Enabling young people to travel a pathway to success

I have worked in education for over 20 years working in inner city and rural schools and have held many roles ranging from Mentor to Executive Headteacher. I am passionate about enabling young people to fulfil their ambitions and dreams and develop the skills to engage in society.

I have been a teacher for over 20 years, working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities during this time, having completed the SENDCo qualification.
I firmly believe that all young people deserve the chance to shine, regardless of their ability or situation.

I have worked in education since qualifying as a teacher in 2005 and working in a mainstream and special schools. I have always valued the importance of developing positive relationships and working therapeutically, inclusively and creatively to provide personalised support and guidance to enable and empower young people to engage and participate positively, maximise their potential, achieve their goals, fulfil their dreams and develop strong interpersonal skills.

I’ve worked helping children for many years and have experience in many different sectors. I began years ago teaching outdoor pursuits, specialising in water sports. I’ve also spent over 6 years in residential childcare and, more recently, have spent the last 3 years in the education sector at a local SEND school. I find it is important for young people to have the correct provisions and support in place to enable them to reach their full potential and learn vital skills that are tailored to their interests and help them succeed in the future.

I have worked with secondary age children for over 20 years. I believe in a holistic approach to young people, assisting them in making decisions and realising that we all have choices and consequences for those choices, whether positive or negative.
Forest School training has given me the opportunity to work alongside students that may struggle within the classroom.

I have worked with children for over 10 years. I have worked both inner city and most recently more rural since moving to Devon a few years ago.
I believe in creating a great relationship with children through understanding and trust.

I am a qualified science teacher and have worked in both mainstream and special needs settings. I enjoy working alongside young people, helping to support them as they navigate issues they might be facing and encouraging their educational progress. I find they have much to offer and often just need someone to invest time in hearing what they have to say.

I studied Animal Care biology and Ecology at Bicton College. I moved to Australia where, as well as studying ecology and land management at TAFE Adelaide I worked for the RSPCA and the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) where I had the privilege of working with animals, children, and young adults within the Indigenous community. I enjoyed mentoring young people from diverse backgrounds, assisting them as they transitioned into adulthood.

I have a fifteen-year career in the creative industries, including teaching art and design from level 2 upwards. What I found most rewarding about working in education was seeing transformations in young people by harnessing confidence and positive attitudes and embracing creativity in whatever form it might take. I’m currently studying modules in psychology and counselling to further progress in this field and I’m excited to bring all of these skills to Devon Pathways.

I am a Qualified Secondary Teacher of English (and occasionally Drama). I have worked with a wide range of young people and have seen first hand the amazing things they are capable of, with the right tailored support. I believe that every child and every family has a voice and it should be listened to, in order to help a young person succeed in life. I also have over 20 years of experience within Martial Arts and work as an instructor in Dojo’s across mid-Devon.

I have been working in education for over 16 years, in both mainstream and SEMH. I have a passion to support children and help them believe in possibilities they never imagined.
One of the most rewarding aspects of working with young people is sending them into the world prepared - not just academically but emotionally, socially and confidently and being part of a team with the same aim is amazing.
